Billboard Award Leg Drop Fan’s Lawyer Continues Press Rounds

It seems as if Khyati Shah’s attorney is attempting to gain his 15 minutes of fame or at least use the court of public opinion to pressure Miguel and his team into a settlement as he continues to go to various outlets to make his clients alleged case. This time he spoke with Yahoo Music.

My personal opinion at this point regarding the whole issue is the girl isn’t injured any longer and now it’s just about getting what you can because a money opportunity, regardless of it being purely accidental has presented itself.

You can read the details he reveals regarding his client and his alleged dealings with Team Miguel here.

The New Clique

R&B music has always undergone an evolution and at a time when it’s beginning to regain it’s footing in a major way on the charts with the listening public EBONY magazine takes a look at some the leaders into what is being termed “nouveau noir” or the new Black.

Nouveau noir is described as genre-less, wear-what-you-want and make-the-music-that-you-want artistry. It is a term coined by singer/songwriter Stacy Barthe, who is behind the music of artist such as Britney Spears, Brandy and Rihanna.

In the Ebony article they describe Miguel’s contribution to the “nouveau noir” sound as such:

Miguel also has clearly made his mark in the noir vein. When he first released the ground breaking “All I Want Is You” in 2010, listeners didn’t know what to make of the Black and Mexican guy who dressed both ‘hood and chic. His smooth music, which he describes as “eclectric”, has proven commercially successful with sophomore album Kaleidoscope Dream.

Behind the Music Makers

In the June 2013 issue of Essence magazine highlighted the work of TPF Management’s Philana Williams who has worked with the likes of Pink, Cee-Lo, Estelle and Miguel.

In the brief article she has this to say regarding Miguel’s Breakout GRAMMY moment: We’ve always thought larger than everybody else; we always knew that day was coming. But now instead of us pounding down doors, the doors are opening for us.

In addition to speaking on his GRAMMY moment she also had high praise for her client stating: “Miguel’s an incredible artist; he’s going to be one of the greats.”

He Say, They Say: Miguel Allegedly NOT Warned to Make Leap

Acccording to TMZ Miguel not only practiced his flying leap TWICE during rehearsals for the Billboard Music Awards but that producers never warned him to cut the maneuver from his performance.

Billboard Music Award’s executive producer Don Mischer is singing a different tune however. He tells TMZ that he personally spoke to Miguel after rehearsals and told him not to attempt the leap.

But Miguel’s rep is strongly denying that … telling TMZ, “The reports claiming that Miguel was warned by producers not to jump are completely false.”

The he say, they say goes even further when a source close to Miguel states that producers asked Miguel if he was genuinely going to attempt the leap so that their cameras didn’t miss it during his performance.

As previously posted the young lady who Miguel leg dropped during his performance, Kyhati Shah, whose head slammed against the stage her attorney is hinting that she is suffering from possible brain damage and that a lawsuit may be filed.

Miguel’s rep says, “A number of attempts were made to reach Khyati and her lawyer after the performance to see how she was doing and whether any assistance could be offered.”

Miguel Fan Now Claims Brain Damage?

They say that when it rains it pours and with this latest news regarding the incident involving singer Miguel and fan Khyati Shah whom he accidentally leg dropped during the 2013 Billboard Awards which aired live on May 19th.

The lawyer for the young lady speaking again to TMZ, states that “Some of the difficulties she’s experiencing are cognitive in nature and lead to suspicion of a neurological head injury.” Ms. Shah’s attorney, says they’re awaiting test results from a neurologist to determine if a lawsuit will be filed

.

The lawyer also chastises the Billboard Music Awards staff, claiming they offered his client only an ice pack for her elbow instead of making sure she was treated at a hospital.

I’m no medical expert but with what I do know on a personal level regarding head injuries especially of this sort, I have very little doubt that the young lady suffered at least a concussion. More than likely the symptoms she’s suffering from now are what’s known as Post Concussion Syndrome. In such an instance your initial symptoms do get somewhat worse before they get better.
